Rotary Club essay contest
The best three "service above self" essay writers will be invited to present their essay as a speech to Rotary Club of Napa. Bereavement Weekend

Hospice of Napa Valley is accepting participant applications for the seventh annual Family Bereavement Weekend to be held June 9 to June 11 at the Westminster Woods in Occidental. Courage Camp offers children and adults who have lost a loved one the opportunity to experience healing in the beauty of nature and through the fun of a camp experience.

Bonsai Club

The Napa Valley Bonsai Club will host well-known bonsai instructor Jim Gremel Monday at the Senior Center, 1500 Jefferson Street, Napa at 7:30 p.m. His specialty will be an overview of maples and he will offer assistance to anyone wishing to bring in a tree for help. Trees will be available for purchase. "Bonsai Fundamentals" begins at 6:30 p.m., a class intended to acquaint people with bonsai. Visitors are welcome. PC Users group

On Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., Susy Ball, Program Director of the NVPCUG, will introduce Audacity, a free open-source program that will allow you to enter the world of digital music using your computer. This is a fully-functional, multi-track audio editor and runs on most Windows platforms, as well as Mac OS 9 and X, Linus and Unix. It can be downloaded free of charge. Jerry Brown will lead the Random Access portion of the meeting with an open floor question and answer period. At the Napa Senior Center. All are welcome.

Republican Women Clubs

An all-day conference with four speakers will be hosted by Napa Valley and Santa Rosa Republican Women Clubs on Thursday at Embassy Suites in Napa. The chairman of the Napa County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed this week as Restless Legs Syndrome Awareness Week. Hospice of Napa Valley offers grief support groups for community members who have experienced loss. Meetings are free. Studio Arts Napa Valley offers Afro-Caribbean dance classes to live music every Monday night at 6:45 p.m. Classes are for all levels of dancers, ages 14 and up.

Developmentally Disabled Christian Ministries

The Developmentally Disabled Christian Ministries, an interdenominational Christian education program, meets the fourth Monday of each month at the social hall of St. John's Catholic Church, 924 Napa St., Napa, from 5 to 8 p.m. Volunteers from local churches serve dinner and participate in Christian activities and fellowship.
