In The Kitchen with Kids

Napa chef and cooking teacher Julie Logue-Riordan and Barbara Hughston, author of “In the Kitchen with Kids,” are teaming up to hold special classes for children ages 9 and up.

“In The Kitchen with Kids” meets for four days, June 18-21, from11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee for four days is $360.
The classes, held at the Churchill Manor Bed and Breakfast kitchen, are based on classic French techniques, but students will also learn recipes from Italy and other great food regions of the world. They’ll whisk up a variety of dishes, toss in a little fun and season with imagination, while learning basic cooking techniques, reading recipes, using knives safely, setting up a recipe and making healthy choices.

The kids will be cooking the following menus.
Monday: Chicken  and Vegetable Stock, Chicken and Vegetables in Papillote (Chicken and vegetables cooked together in a package, Cheesecake Parfait.

Tuesday: South of the Border Soup, Caesar Salad , Italian Risotto with Sausage, Triple Berry Muffins
Wednesday: Frittata of Summer Veggies, Handmade Pasta Noodles with Fresh Tomato Basil Sauce, Strawberry Sorbet

Thursday: Greek Salad, White Mountain Pizza with whole wheat crust, Peach Galette

Participants will receive hands-on instruction, printed recipes, an apron, a copy of “In the Kitchen with Kids” — and enjoy the food they make in class. Class size is limited to 12 ./AP
