How about hustling for a date, in front of millions of people, as your next career move?

That’s what Zack Clark will do Monday, when the 2000 Vintage High School graduate appears on Bravo’s new reality show, “Date My Ex: Jo & Slade.”
The dating show features Jo De La Rosa, an up-and-coming singer whose ex-fiancé, Slade Smiley, sets her up with would-be boyfriends.

Clark, a model and actor based in Southern California, will compete with other would-be boyfriends. They all stay at “Smiley’s House,” a mansion where Smiley helps his ex-fiancée narrow her search for the perfect partner. Tests include dates and cocktail parties with Smiley, Jo and her friends.
Clark admits that doing on-camera dates and going to parties to impress a gal is “a weird premise” for a TV show. “But whatever ... that’s Hollywood,” he said.

Clark, 26, was tight-lipped about the show’s filming schedule, location and outcome. Bravo does not want to give anything away, he said.
“I can tell you it’s an eight-episode show,” said Clark, a model and actor who has appeared in TV commercials, print advertisements and a reality TV show on MTV.

“It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had,” he said, adding he made great connections with the film crew, and got to know the producers, directors, and the other staff who work behind the scenes.

Ideally, he hopes the show will help him land a part on the soap opera “General Hospital,” — his mother’s favorite soap and a springboard for generations of actors.

His ultimate goal, he said, is to be in feature films.

He will watch Monday’s show with friends at a sports bar in Santa Barbara.

Zack Clark moved to southern California in 2005 after graduating from the California Maritime Academy with an engineering degree. A cousin who worked as a model in San Francisco introduced Zack to modeling when he was still at the Maritime Academy in Vallejo. Clark said he thought it would be a way to entertain people and earn a living.

His parents, Rick Clark, a construction contractor, and Joan Clark, a former model who now stages homes for sale, said they are proud of their Zack.

Zack has been “a good boy all his life,” his father said. Rick Clark added his unbiased view that his son “is a real hunk.”

Joan Clark predicts her son will be a hit on the show. “I have a feeling that he makes it to the end,” she said.

“He’s going to spice it up,” she said, adding he’ll be good for the ratings. “It should be fun.”

Zack Clark, who is presented on the show as a 27-year-old a jewelry designer representative — one of his many part-time occupations to supplement his income from his modeling and acting jobs — is also a self-employed handyman. His company is called “Zack of All Trades,” he said.

“Date my Ex: Jo & Slade” will be shown at 10 p.m. Monday on Bravo TV and will repeat for several weeks thereafter.

" Good to see a fellow "hunk" doing well. Us hunks have to look out for each other. "

" Am I the only female who thinks there is something sort of creepy looking about this photo? I'm not saying he is creepy looking in real life, (I can't say that 'cause I've never seen him in person), but this photo doesn't look like a human being. Further, I'm really not interested in reality T.V. or the people who seem to sell their souls to get on screen. I suppose I'm not ready to give my brain over to oatmeal just yet. "

" This is called a feature story, telling about people who live in the community, as we are the community newspaper for the Napa Valley.
We write about the people, and well, reality TV shows are draws huge numbers these days, so when one from Napa goes reality, it's probably going to be something for a small article.
We do the same when people are on game shows, too. Didn't hear any of you cry out when we featured someone who was on Jeopardy.
The lead story today is a feature one, too, about the seniors and meals for wheels. "

" Hi Dan,

No denying reality TV as a draw. It is what it is whether some of us like it or not. I should have clarified my thought especially as it sits within the context of others' comments.

I do agree that this is newsworthy for a community newspaper. Articles like this keeps us "connected" with one another. Personally, I just don't happen to be drawn toward reality TV, but I'm not so selfish to think that you shouldn't write this little story on my account. It's safe to say that a great number of people in Napa will enjoy reading this and following up on it.

As for Jeopardy... at least the viewer can learn a thing or two from that show. :-) I wouldn't consider Jeopardy as one of those reality TV shows that turns ones brain into oatmeal. "

" The NVR should do another feature story on other Napa hunks like myself. I might not be on a t.v. show but I'm a hell of a hunk.
Is General Hospital really a "springboard" for actors? Who actually watches that show anyways? "

" Any one that knows Zack will join in congratulations for him and look forward to his future successes.

Although I agree, it is not his best pic. If you really want to see Zack, check him out on My Space... http://www.myspace.com/zspace81

I am so proud of Zack and we are excited to watch the show on Monday, on Bravo at 10.

And Yes... this is a shameless promotion for a great friend. Proud to do it!

Go Zack! "

" I concede! I visited his myspace (Though I wasn't thrilled about all the half-dressed women that were sprawled out all over the thing, pawing for his attention), I will admit that Zack is a handsome man.

Hunk? Well, I think that sorta cheapens him a bit, but I suppose that all depends on what he's shooting for in life as to how he allows himself to be promoted.

As for this particular photo, after seeing others, it's clear this is not the best. I'm glad he doesn't look like a plastic doll in real life. :-)

Nevertheless, I wish him well in his endeavors and I pray he never compromises himself for the sake of fame and fortune. "

" I can't wait to see the show! Thanks for writing about it. I like reality shows and watch them til it looks like my wife is going to start throwing knives at me.

Catch the Soup, the best show on televison. The Decline of Western Civilization has occured, and it is hilarious. "

" My Fellow Napans,
Thank you all for your support and constructive criticism.
Thank you for agreeing with me that this is not my best picture but oh well. I didn't choose nor was I aware of which picture was going to be used. I do however think that this article is very positive and well written. Thank you to the Napa Register and all others for your support.
Regarding soap opera's being a springboard for a successful acting career, they absolutely are. Most of your favorite movie stars most likely got their "start" through their involvement in soaps.
As a disclaimer, I apologize if my Myspace page appears to have 'half naked women throwing themselves at me.' Well, I don't apologize to my father and friends because I am sure they are proud however, if you are offended, keep in mind that I live in Hermosa Beach, Southern California and people tend to wear less clothing at the beach.
Thank you again everyone for all of your support.
Reality TV, well, it is what it is. The point is for you to be entertained so I hope I am successful in at least doing that tonight.
Here's to Napa, the best place on earth, where hopefully one day I may retire. "

" To NVR - Dan Ross: OK, this is community news, and well worth reporting especially to his family and friends who are so proud of him. I would be to if he was my son and I would want this story told, but........
Not a mention about the multi-cultural Latino, West African, Reggae music festival held at Copia this past week-end. Not a Napa Register photog in attendance? What gives? Is this too multi-cultural for Napa or for the Register to report? It was a colorful, musical event, no knife fights, thefts or vandalism - just a bunch of regular people having a regular good time. Maybe because the Napa Valley Symphony was not involved, it didn't rate even a sentence in the paper? "

" mominapa, that's the trouble with an arts and entertainment section that only publishes once a week I need to work more closely with the features staff to get their items online when they happen, rather than waiting for the section' publication day in print

" Mom-In-Napa- You must be talking about the Think Green Festival at Copia. We were there too. They had an area for children set up with puppet shows, animals (lizards, tarantula, snakes, turtles) There was good food and lots of info on "going Green" Would be nice to have had that in the paper. "

I actually enjoyed it and will tune in as long as Zack is there, not sure I will after he is gone (if he leaves that is) :)

Way to go and God Bless "
