Had a cowboy, don’t need a flyboy
Dear editor, it has seemed in recent days that no matter what Barack Obama does he is viewed as an evil-doer, out to undermine America’s image in the world. Not only is his every word dissected and torn apart, his wife picked apart, his religious affiliation questioned, his patriotism challenged, his motives for his recent trip criticized, but he is being held up as being the darling of the media.
This has been proven wrong, however, but it is the perception of voting Americans that I question. Why is there no attempt to discern between the lies and innuendo, and why would anyone be so eager to believe something they receive in their spam inbox?
Why is there no questioning of why even his educational background should be ridiculed as if it was something to be ashamed of? Why should he be called an “elitist” because of it when he has paid his own college loans? It’s so easy to throw out innuendo, if not lies, and someone out there will lap it up eagerly as if they would rather enjoy the complacency of our current misery than to open their eyes to what could be. It is worth the risk — it can’t get any worse.
Obama has proven himself to be a patriotic American, to be a leader, and to have the intellectual capacity that should be required of the leader of the free world.
America is not in a bubble. We are not the center of the universe. Our leaders need to be able to work with other nations to work out the differences that threaten everyone. “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran” is not the way I would want my president to approach that issue. It’s not even funny. What we have endured for the past eight years should not be the new standard for an American president. We’ve had a cowboy — we don’t need a fly boy. We can have more. We can have a president that we can be proud of, that we don’t have to be embarrassed for and who won’t embarrass us.

I suggest, that if YOU want to not be naive, you check out the website
Stopthinkvote.com. This is a factual website with videos of your candidate that demonstrate well, his policies, his beliefs and the man himself. Educate yourself about your candidate then you can consciously choose to be in denial. Don't just stick your head in the sand, continue with your smarmy comments about O'bama. I know you were all bullies in the school yard. You are all sounding desperate because you make only generalized statements about Obama. You never get into the issues.
I know how this will fall out. You will start to disown McCain the second he disappoints you, which I'm sure he has already. You'll say, "Well, he wasn't my first choice for a candidate but...". How nice to be able to walk both sides of the fence. "

Actual quote from Audacity of Hope he "attempted" to quote:
"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Anyone who reads that and can find a way to interpret that as siding with the terrorist needs to get their head checked.
Also, someone mentioned the McCain town hall meeting? Oh the one that ended up being all supporters of MCCain. Those were some hard hitting questions haha. They have their three debates line up like they do every cycle.
Since everyone on all sides is officially drinking kool-aid can we retire the phrase?
Also I've touched on the whole emphasizing on Obamas middle name in the past. It's just a childish and fairly pathetic attempt at playing into people fears and prejudice. Most likely only to have any affect on people who would never vote for him anyway. "

I wasn't aware that a person's parents had any bearing on whether or not they'd be a good president. Barack H. Obama's mother being an atheist, or his father "abandoning a white girl" (does it matter what color she was?) isn't anything to do with Obama's politics--the great thing about America is that ANYONE can become president, as long as they were born in the United States; background and family have no bearing on it. A mother who flaunts convention? Oooh, scary. If people hadn't flaunted convention, we wouldn't have women's rights, African American rights or interracial marriage—we wouldn’t even have this COUNTRY--but that's neither here nor there.
Second, give me proof that Obama's (former) church believes that America created the AIDS virus to infect Africans. I bet you can't find any; it's another racist assumption. Just because the pastor has spouted some ugly things doesn't mean the entire church is like that, and it doesn't mean that Obama shares the same principles--he broke away from that church, remember?
I will acknowledge that McCain is a hero of war; he is a true patriot. However, having been in the military is NOT a requirement to be defined as a patriot (if it were, most Americans aren't patriots) and Obama's family background, the school he went to (uhm, he got into and graduated from Harvard, not an easy feat), and his color don't preclude being a good American in the least. Neither does his middle name.
Just more fear tactics being spread by conservatives. Hard to take that seriously. "

Yes...McCain made over 20 films during his time as a POW, denouncing the U.S. He has called himself, in a 60 Minutes interview, a war criminal yet, he continued to do the wrong thing, going against his own beliefs.
For some reason, those films are now locked up.
Now...have you also heard about how he left his 1st wife after she was disfigured in a car accident and went chasing after Cindy, while he was still married? His kids don't speak to him.
Have you heard what he called his wife in front of reporters and campaign aides several years back? I don't want to hear anything about how the media is biased for Obama when they have done nothing but cover up the real truth about McCain. The fact that he is basically TIED with McCain at this point is a HUGE concern to the Dems. They are getting very nervous thinking that maybe they are backing a dead horse. (And they may be right).
People respond to B.O.'s soaring rhetoric, but it is starting to get a little old. When people look beyond the pretty speeches, what do they see? Someone who never had a real job, who was a "community activist" (like Reverend Sharpton), who attended church for years with an angry and biased pastor. They see someone who had 143 days experience in National politics when he decided to run for President. They see someone who, when the teleprompter is turned off, speaks almost as poorly as George Bush. (Why else won't B.O. debate McCain in town hall settings?) They see someone who constantly runs down our country and emphasizes the negatives.
For all his faults, McCain obviously loves his country and is far more inspirational. People respect the service he has done for his country and his dedication to her defense.

I listen to that show and he has never said ANYTHING that CAIR claims that he has said, but when I mention Reverend Not-So-Right's anti-American comment that is all over YouTube, Michael Savage's website, and basically all over the internet you say I "misquoted" him.
I know what this world is coming to. I've seen it up close. The brainwashing, the over the top racism and discrimination. I've debated just me against 20 or so fellow, liberal classmates and won. When did I say he was with him for twenty years? Either way, ten years is far too long for deciding if the guy's a good reverend. It should've taken him 6 months at the MOST. If he stayed with him for TEN YEARS it was obviously because he believed what he was saying. B.O. is a wolf in sheep's skin trying to take over the U.S, by telling the liberals who believe anything that they are gonna make things all better. I'm not buying it. You obviously are.

Here is MY problem as I see it ,concerning the "sneers" you and others give when you think someone is a liberal. Your comments sound suspiciously like that of one who's thought processes have been PROGRAMMED as opposed to free, fluent and well researched thought. I still believe you have potential, however I believe its being stifled under the blanket of being a conservative and republican when there is far more to it then the mindless repetition of what you are exposed to as real independent political analylisis and truth.
You need to be exposed to more unless your mind is already closed to anything that is NOT neo -con dogma.
