Roadrunners Blue 'B' team claims tourney crown in Cloverdale

The Napa RoadRunners Blue “B” 12-and-under girls softball team recently ended its summer season with a first-place finish in the Cloverdale Ponytail Fast Pitch Tournament. The Napa team went 5-0, outscoring the five opponents by a combined 45-6.

Tayler Malley had six hits, Melissa Knedel tallied five hits and five RBIs, and Rebecca Morris chipped in two hits and three RBIs to lead the Roadrunners on offense.
Hannah Koehn, Sissy Krause and Charity Calantoc each hit safely and did not commit any errors. Bailee Murphy and Sara Brashear helped score runs with aggressive base running.

Jordan Hernandez was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for her overall defense and offensive plays. Making the All-Tournament team for Napa were pitcher Mariah Gelista, who had 26 strikeouts; catcher Sydni Scott, who did not allow any base stealers; and Carli Collins, who made stellar stretches at first base.
