Frank Family Vineyards has opened its new tasting room in the old Craftsman house on the property and demolished the old building it formerly used.
The winery also has built a new fermentation building and an administration building, allowing the winery to have its first crush at the winery this harvest.
The construction has exposed a third side of the original Larkmead Winery, which was built in 1884.
Frank Family Vineyards will continue its no-charge policy for tasting.
Laird buys bulk-wine facility
Grower and vintner Kenneth Laird has acquired a nearly complete $14 million bulk-wine storage facility in south Napa from Vintage Wine Trust, a real estate investment trust liquidating its holdings.
The facility is leased to Butch Cameron for his Cameron Wine Storage company.

New art gallery coming to north St. Helena
The Iron House Gallery will soon open next to A Dozen Vintners at Lodi Lane and Highway 29.
The gallery already has some wind sculptures out front, but may open informally this weekend.
Elements opening delayed a week
Elements Restaurant & Enoteca in downtown Napa has delayed its opening until Sept. 1.
It’s in the old Azzurro Pizzeria building at Franklin and Second streets in downtown Napa.
Charbay aperitif collection
Charbay has introduced its first ready-to-drink aperitifs in popular green tea and pomegranate flavors.
These are wine-based beverages, and at 21 percent alcohol, can be served in restaurants with wine and beer licenses.
Napa’s newest hotel
A Marriott Springhill Suites is under construction in the Napa Valley Gateway business park at the entrance to the airport on Highway 29.
The Springhill Suites hotels are aimed at business travelers, but this one will likely also appeal to many other visitors, including families.
They hope to open Dec. 31.
Cameo to install digital projector
Cameo Cinema in St. Helena is installing a new digital cinema projector, which will allow the theater to play digital and digital 3-D content.
The Cameo will debut the system this weekend with digital 3-D films.
Markham awards marks of distinction
Markham Vineyards is honoring two winners of the winery’s inaugural Mark of Distinction program.
This new program encourages community involvement across the country.
The winners of the $25,000 grants were the Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine, Kan., and Table to Table in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.
Vinquiry seminars
Vinquiry will host a berry sensory analysis seminar led by Dr. Gianni Trioli, of Vinidea, Italy, in Napa on Sept. 3.
It will hold a sparkling wine seminar Nov. 12.
